Promoting stewardship of the Lake Erie coast and watershed
through science-based tools and training

Addresses Local Needs
The Ohio CTP surveyed more than two hundred local officials in the Lake Erie watershed about their greatest challenges and training needs related to land use and water quality.  Stormwater, watershed planning, stream restoration, wastewater, sustainable design, renewable energy, and grant writing all came out as priorities. In response, the Ohio CTP is partnering with others to expand and enhance training related to these topics.

Recently, we hosted a focus group to gather input from local officials and stormwater managers for a new national training on the water quality performance of stormwater technologies.  Once complete, the Ohio CTP will offer this training to engineers and stormwater professionals across northern Ohio.

Coordinates State and Regional Resources
The Ohio CTP is a partnership of three programs that collaborate to conduct research, provide education and manage the natural resources of the Lake Erie coastal region: Old Woman Creek National Estuarine Research Reserve (NERR), Ohio Sea Grant College Program, and the ODNR Office of Coastal Management. These programs regularly join forces with non-profit organizations, universities, and other agencies to deliver science-based training to professionals throughout the Lake Erie watershed.

Fosters Information Sharing and Collaboration
The Ohio CTP supports events like the upcoming Northeast Ohio Stormwater Conference because they are great opportunities to bring scientists, practitioners, and local decision-makers together to share challenges, innovative science and technologies, and success stories.
