Ohio Division of Forestry Seeks Public Input on Plan to Sustain Woodlands in the Hocking Hills Area
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry is leading a collaborative effort to develop a broad scale woodland management plan for landowners in multiple communities and townships in the Hocking Hills region (Berne Twp., Benton Twp., Falls Twp., Good Hope Twp., Green Twp., Laurel Twp., Logan, & Sugar Grove) and invites the public to review a draft woodland plan and provide comments.
The overall goal of developing the broad plan is to meet landowner needs while maintaining functioning forests in the area and to positively address issues and concerns stemming from forest loss, forest fragmentation, and other threats to forest health. The plan will focus on providing small woodland landowners (2-10 acres) and cabin owners with ways to increase their benefits from woodlands plus provide an area-wide framework for maintaining overall forest benefits and services.
You can provide review and comments by providing them to Jason Van Houten at Jason.VanHouten@dnr.state.oh.us, 614-265-6703, or by mail to ODNR Division of Forestry, c/o Jason Van Houten, 2045 Morse Road, Building H-1, Columbus, OH 43229-6693.  Comments will be accepted through February 1, 2013.
