Location: East Erie (US 6) and Massachusetts avenues Lorain, OH Latitude: N 41° 28.64’ Longitude: W 082° 09.21’ Waterbody: Lake Erie Access Site Type: Recreational Environments: Bluff Sandy Beach Monitoring: Research: - Grants: -	The 2.76-acre Century Park is 1.1 miles east of the Black River mouth and the city of Lorain’s easternmost coastal recreation access location. Century’s parking lot entrance is on U.S. Route 6 (East Erie Ave) just west of the Massachusetts Avenue intersection. Century Park features a 320 foot long, large-grain, groomed sand beach mixed with small amounts of shell fragments and rocks. The beach’s 75-foot width is protected on each end by a 150 foot long rock groin. These, along with a third poured concrete groin that bisects the beach, extend into Lake Erie providing fishing access. A grass-covered bluff leads from the well-shaded upper park to the beach. Steps lead down the bluff’s center while a graded, gravel path is at the park’s eastern end. Century Park is home to the Harbor House which among other events, houses Santa Claus and his helpers at their workshop during the Christmas season. Park amenities also include picnic tables, playground equipment and restroom facilities. Century Park is on the Back Roads & Beaches Bike Trail, which follows U.S. Route 6 through Lorain County. While not on contiguous property, Lorain’s 32-acre Longfellow Park is one block to the south.
